해외문화홍보원에서 영어 콘텐츠의 기획 및 감수를 담당할 외국인(원어민) 전문인력을 채용하고자 다음과 같이 공고합니다. 2010. 7. 27 해외문화홍보원장
1. 채용예정 직급 및 인원

2. 응시자격 ○ 한국의 정치ㆍ사회ㆍ역사ㆍ문화 등 전반적인 분야에 대한 이해가 깊은 자 ○ 영어권 학사학위 이상 소지자(Native Speaker) ※ 국내외 언론사(온라인 포함) 근무 경력자 우대
3. 보수 및 근무 ○ 보수수준: 연봉 32백만원에서 42백만원(직무 관련 경력에 따라 조정) ○ 근무조건: 1일 8시간(09:00~18:00, 주 40시간), 공무원 복무규정 준용

Job Opening
The Korean Culture and Information Service (KOCIS) is looking for a native English speaker to proofread stories posted on Korea.net and for the monthly magazine “KOREA.” The individual must be able to promptly and accurately re-write text written by Korean staff writers and other contributors, sometimes adding appropriate background material or deleting nonessential content. The resulting text must follow Western (specifically, Associated Press (AP)) style and logic patterns but retain the original meaning, while avoiding overly idiomatic expressions or complicated wording. It is also hoped that the editor will contribute one story or more a week based on his or her own ideas/contacts/interviews/research. Besides this, it will sometimes be required to critique/comment on English narration and subtitles of documentaries about Korea.
○ Position - Job Title: Copy editor/ Writer - Salary Range: Around 32-42 million won/year, negotiable - Working hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Mon to Fri, occasional overtime and weekend work required - Location: Near Gyeongbok Palace, central Seoul - Period: Renewable 1-year contract, provided applicant passes two-month trial period and has satisfactory work performance
○ Qualifications - MA/MS or above, preferably in journalism - Five years editing / writing experience, preferably with American English - Native English Speaker - Knowledge of Korean history, culture, current affairs - Highly developed computer skills and an ability to learn new software applications quickly - Desire to increase awareness about government policies and Korea in general - Passionate enough to contribute creative ideas on how to improve site’s effectiveness - Ability to work well in an all-Korean office environment, though immediate contacts speak fluent English (Korean language ability a big advantage)
○ Note - As the office is part of the national government, prior to hiring, the successful applicant must pass a security background check.
